Overview
Lumina is a privacy-first browser. Our core principle is simple: your browsing data belongs to you. We do not build advertising profiles, sell your data, or share it with third parties for commercial purposes.
This Privacy Policy applies to the Lumina browser application and the luminabrowse.com website.
What We Do Not Collect
Unlike most browsers, Lumina does not collect:
- Your browsing history or visited URLs
- Search queries or autocomplete input
- Cookies or session data from websites you visit
- Keystrokes, form inputs, or autofill data
- Device fingerprints or hardware identifiers
- Location data of any kind
- Any information tied to your personal identity
What We Collect
Lumina does not include crash reporting, analytics or telemetry. On its own, the browser makes only two kinds of network request:
- Update checks to our update server, to see whether a newer version is available and download it
- Ad and tracker filter lists, downloaded from the blocking library’s public servers when they are not already on your device
Like any web request, these reveal your IP address and basic technical details (such as your operating system) to the server that answers them. They contain nothing about the sites you visit, and we do not use them to identify or profile you.
Built-in Ad & Tracker Blocking
Lumina blocks ads and trackers at the network level. This blocking happens entirely on your device — the filter lists are downloaded to your computer, and no request data is sent to our servers. We never see which trackers you encountered or which sites you visited.
Sync & Accounts
Lumina does not currently require an account. If optional sync features are introduced in the future, they will be opt-in, clearly disclosed, and built with end-to-end encryption. This policy will be updated prior to any such release.
Third-Party Services
The Lumina browser does not embed third-party analytics SDKs (e.g. Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment). The luminabrowse.com website may use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics (no cookies, no fingerprinting) to understand traffic volume.
Data Storage & Security
All local browser data — bookmarks, settings, passwords — is stored exclusively on your device. We have no access to it. Saved passwords are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM.
Children's Privacy
Lumina is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We will notify users of material changes to this policy via an in-app notice and an update to the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Lumina after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
